A site survey is one of the most important steps in designing a wireless
LAN (WLAN). Many of our clients install their own wireless LANs, but lack
the equipment and/or the expertise to conduct a site survey. In a site
survey we'll document in detail, through tests with RF emitters and spectrum
analysis, the best locations to place access points (AP). Along with AP
placements, we'll determine antenna types and placements.
The risks of omitting a site survey include:
- Failing to discover sources of interference that interrupt your WLAN signals
- Poor coverage of the wireless signal leaving many users without access
- Extra expense in installing more devices than needed due to inadequate planning
